New York City Ballet opens its spring 2007 season tonight with a program in tribute to Lincoln Kirstein, who co-founded the company with George Balanchine in 1946 and whose centennial birthday is on May 4 of this year.
"For Lincoln: Modern Classics" features four Balanchine ballets, all mainstays of the NYCB repertoire: The Four Temperaments, Pavane, Agon, and Symphony in C.
The performance begins tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the New York State Theater in Lincoln Center. More information about this program and New York City Ballet's entire spring season is available at www.nycballet.com.
