Photo Journal: Karita Mattila in the Lyric's Manon Lescaut

The Lyric Opera of Chicago premiered a new production of Puccini's Manon Lescaut, directed by Olivier Tambosi, on October 31. Star soprano Karita Mattila sings the title role.

The cast also includes Vladimir Galouzine as Des Grieux, Manon's lover; Christopher Feigum as her brother Lescaut; and Dale Travis as Geronte.

Sets and costumes are by Frank Philipp Schlössmann; lighting is by Duane Schuler.

Former Lyric director Bruno Bartoletti is the conductor.
