A new piano work specially commissioned by Carnegie Hall for pianist Yefim Bronfman's Perspectives series has been delayed.
The world premiere of German composer Jörg Widmann's XI Humoresken, originally scheduled for Bronfman's December 17 recital in Carnegie's Stern Auditorium, has been postponed because the score is not yet complete. Except for that change, the program remains as announced.
XI Humoresken's world premiere has been rescheduled for Bronfman's chamber music concert with the Emerson String Quartet, violinist Gil Shaham and cellist Lynn Harrell on May 4, 2008. The Widmann work replaces Shostakovich's Seven Verses for Soprano, Violin, Cello and Piano on the program; soprano Olga Makarina will no longer appear.
The remainder of the May 4 program — which will include a second world premiere as well, of an as-yet-untitled work for piano trio by Marc-André Dalbavie — remains as previously announced.
