Lincoln Center presents its annual holiday tree lighting ceremony this evening from 5:30 to 6 p.m. on Josie Robertson Plaza.

This year's festivities include New York City Ballet and School of American Ballet dancers performing a selection from Balanchine's Nutcracker, excerpts from the Metropolitan Opera's new English-language production of Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, and folk singer Dar Williams. The Hot 8 Brass Band and The Big Apple Circus's Kovgar Troupe, along with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, will appear as well. The event is free and open to the public.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on WABC-TV in New York, co-hosted by Good Morning America's Sam Champion and WABC-TV's Sade Baderinwa.

Just before the tree lighting, beginning at 5:00 p.m., prior to the Lincoln Center Tree Lighting, veteran New York City Ballet dancer Kyle Froman will be on the plaza to sign copies of his new book, In the Wings. And following the ceremony, the entire neighborhood around Lincoln Center will be offering a celebration called Winter's Eve at Lincoln Square, with free entertainment, food, and family fun.

The Josie Robertson Plaza is located next to Lincoln Center's plaza fountain at Columbus Avenue and 64th Street. Visit www.lincolncenter.org for more information.
