Gabriela Montero, the inventive young pianist whose imagination and flair for improvisation are winning her a devoted following, will make a special appearance at J&R Music and Computer World in lower Manhattan at 12 noon this Saturday, November 10.

The occasion is the grand reopening of J&R's classical department following an expansion. For many years the store has had the best retail prices in New York City for new classical discs; now, in the wake of the liquidation of Tower Records, J&R has enlarged its inventory with the aim of becoming the primary retail destination for classical recording lovers in the city and beyond.

On Saturday afternoon, Montero will perform some of her trademark improvisations and sign copies of her latest release, Baroque, in which she works her inventive way with a variety of pieces from the 18th century. Admission is free and open to the public; for those who can't be there, WQXR radio will broadcast the performance live at 96.3 FM in the New York City area and online at www.wqxr.com.

Not to forget — the reopening celebration also includes an all-label classical sale.
