Cartoon by Canadian Violinist Gets National and Worldwide Syndication

By Kevin Shihoten
17 Oct 2007

Chuckle Brothers

The Chuckle Bros, a comic strip by a violinist with Canada's National Arts Centre Orchestra has been signed by Creators Syndicate for U.S. and worldwide syndication.

Violinist Brian Boychuk and his brother Ron Boychuk originated the strip "several years ago," according to their website, documenting ideas before a serendipitous meeting with illustrator Ronnie Martin, who joined in their pursuit for syndication.

Picked up by Torstar Syndication Services of Canada last year, The Chuckle Bros now appears in 36 Canadian newpapers, including the Toronto Star and Ottawa Citizen. Torstar also assisted in landing the deal with Los Angeles-based Creators, whose roster includes Robert Novak and Bill O’Reilly as well as the cartoons B.C., The Wizard of Id and Classic Ann Landers.

“The Chuckle Bros are as ready as we’ll ever be," said Brian Boychuk in a statement. "The stage is set for one heck of a ride.”

The start date for its new distribution is set at October 22. Visit www.chucklebros.com for samples.
