Renée Fleming

Renée Fleming's first book, The Inner Voice: The Making of a Singer, is due in stores today.

The book discusses the star soprano's education, influences, mentors, and preparation methods, as well as the "little discussed heart-throat-mind connection," according to a statement on her web site.

In a review in yesterday's Los Angeles Times, David Mermelstein says that Fleming also tells stories of onstage mishaps and reflects on such issues as arts education and music downloading. She occasionally gossips about fellow singers, he notes, but usually leaves out their names.
