The New York Philharmonic will give for the first time a free dress rehearsal on the morning of its opening night concert in Avery Fisher Hall next month.

The rehearsal for the all-Dvorák concert will feature the Carnival Overture, Symphony No. 7 and the Cello Concerto with soloist Yo-Yo Ma.

The event is being billed as a gift to New York from the New York Philharmonic and Credit Suisse, the orchestra's first-ever global sponsor.

Free general admission tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis in front of the hall starting at 8:00 a.m. on September 18, the date of the gala. The New York Philharmonic Principal Brass will also perform on the plaza for those in line that morning.

All dress rehearsal attendess will receive a discount coupon for a future Philharmonic concert. Visit www.nyphil.org for more information.
