Orange County PAC Receives Second $2.5 Million Gift from William Gillespie

Southern California philanthropist William J. Gillespie has made a $2.5 million gift to the Orange County Performing Arts Center, thus raising his commitment to the center's Building on the Vision Campaign to $5 million. OCPAC announced the donation in a statement released today.

The capital campaign, which has now raised more than $166.5 million, is intended to help defray the costs of OCPAC's recent expansion, including the new Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, which opened last September. The Building on a Vision Campaign has a goal of $240 million.

Gillespie made an earlier $2.5 million contribution to OCPAC last year to underwrite construction and installation of the pipe organ in Segerstrom Concert Hall. The instrument, made by the well-known organ firm C.B. Fisk, has been named the William J. Gillespie Concert Organ; installation began last month.

Located in Costa Mesa, California, the Orange County Performing Arts Center presents a broad range of programming each season by both resident and visiting artists, including ballet and modern dance, jazz and cabaret, classical music and opera, and national tours of top Broadway shows. OCPAC is the home venue for Orange County's major performing arts organizations: the Pacific Symphony, Pacific Chorale, Philharmonic Society of Orange County and Opera Pacific. For more information, visit the Center's website at www.ocpac.org.
