ASCAP Announces Recipients of Adventurous Programming Awards
By Kevin Shihoten
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) has announced the recipients of its Adventurous Programming Awards. Given annually, the awards recognize American orchestras who, in the season just past, gave prominence to works composed within the last 25 years. Conductor and ASCAP member Lenoard Slatkin presented the awards on June 22 during the American Symphony Orchestra League's 62nd National Conference in Nashville. Said ASCAP Vice President of Concert Music Frances Richard in a press release, "these are the orchestras that enrich the repertory and keep our great concert music tradition relevant, vibrant and alive."
