Wagner's Lohengrin makes its debut on the stage of The Dallas Opera tonight, in a new staging directed by Alfred Kirchner. At left and below, we offer a glimpse of the production.

Tenor Christopher Ventris takes the title role of the mysterious knight, with soprano Nancy Gustafson as Elsa of Brabant, the noblewoman who loves him, bass-baritone Sergei Leiferkus as Telramund. the Count of Brabant, soprano Jeanne-Michèle Charbonnet as his wife, the scheming Ortrud, and Dean Peterson as King Henry the Falconer. Company music director Graeme Jenkins conducts the Dallas Opera Orchestra and Chorus.

The company gives four performances of Lohengrin: tonight, Sunday afternoon (Feb. 18), Feb. 21 and 24 at the Music Hall at Fair Park in Dallas. For information and tickets, visit www.dallasopera.org.
