Star soprano Renée Fleming will be making a personal appearance today at the Metropolitan Opera Shop to greet well-wishers and sign copies of her latest CD.

Homage: The Age of the Diva, a new release on the Decca Classics label, features Fleming and the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater (still known in the US as the Kirov, its Soviet-era name) under conductor Valery Gergiev paying homage to such legendary sopranos of the past as Rosa Ponselle, Magda Olivero, Emmy Destinn, Maria Jeritza, Lotte Lehmann and Mary Garden. Fleming's tribute is in the form of "diva arias" of the sort those great ladies made famous — selections from the operas Adriana Lecouvreur, Dalibor, Tosca, Mireille, Il trovatore, Die Liebe der Danaë, Jenufa and Cléopâtre.

Fleming will appear from 5 to 6:30 pm on Wednesday, October 18 at the Metropolitan Opera Shop, in the north lobby of the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center in New York City.
