Live from Lincoln Center and NPR Enter New Partnership

By Vivien Schweitzer
28 Jul 2006

The PBS series Live from Lincoln Center will partner with National Public Radio to produce original content for the Internet, it was announced yesterday.

The content will include interviews with musicians appearing on Live From Lincoln Center about the music featured in upcoming concerts. The segments will be available on both www.npr.org and www.lincolncenter.org prior to broadcasts.

The first of these audio pieces, interviews with conductor Louis Langrée and pianist Garrick Ohlsson, are already available, as a run up to next Wednesday's (August 2) broadcast of the previous evening's opening concert of Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival. The popular summer festival is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

In addition, Fred Child, host of NPR's popular Performance Today program, was named the new announcer of Live from Lincoln Center, which is hosted by Beverly Sills and airs nationwide on PBS. Child replaces Martin Bookspan, who left in May.
