Three Glimmerglass Opera productions will be broadcast nationally on National Public Radio's World of Opera this month, the company has announced.

The three programs were recorded by NPR during last summer's festival season at the Alice Busch Opera Theater in Cooperstown, New York. They include a double bill of Massenet's Le Portrait de Manon and Poulenc’s La Voix humaine, Donizetti's Lucie de Lammermoor (the original French version) and Benjamin Britten’s Death in Venice. The first two productions feature the Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra and Chorus with the Massenet conducted by Andrew Bisantz and the Poulenc by Glimmerglass Opera music director Stewart Robertson, who also led Death in Venice. Beatrice Jona Affron led the same forces in Lucie de Lammermoor.

Glimmerglass Opera's 2006 season, which opens tonight and runs until August 29, features four new productions: The Barber of Seville, The Pirates of Penzance, Janácek's Jenufa, directed by Jonathan Miller, and the world premiere of Stephen Hartke's The Greater Good.
