Big Lucy's fans have been disappointed again: the tenor has been forced to cancel July concerts on the U.K. leg of his farewell tour due to difficulties in his recovery from a back injury sustained earlier this year.

In May, the tenor’s London-based manager, Terri Robson, announced that he would not be resuming his farewell tour in Canada and the U.S. in June due to "an unexpected setback in his recovery" from the back injury. Prior to that, Pavarotti had also cancelled concerts in Chile, Portugal, Bosnia and Brazil, among other places.

The U.K. concerts included appearances in Glasgow, Derbyshire, Southampton and Warwick, which were set to take place from July 5 to 15.

Pavarotti, who gave his final opera performance at the Metropolitan Opera in 2004, is in the midst of a worldwide concert tour originally scheduled to end by his 70th birthday last October. He has since said that he expects it to continue for another year or two before ending in Milan, London, Vienna or at the Met.
