08 Jun 2006

The Atlanta Symphony recording of Osvaldo Golijov's opera Ainadamar moved up to number two on the Billboard classical chart this week, its fourth on the chart.

It is the highest point on the chart reached thus far by the CD, which features soprano Dawn Upshaw and is conducted by Robert Spano.

The 5 Browns' No Boundaries remained at number one for the ninth straight week. Violinist André Rieu's The Flying Dutchman dropped from number two to number three. Maurizio Pollini's recent disc of Chopin nocturnes plunged from number three to number 16 in its fifth week on the chart.

On the classical-crossover chart chart, Andrew Bocelli's Amore remained at number one, with Il Divo's Ancora still at number two. Il Divo's self-titled first album moved up to number three, swapping spots with the soundtrack for The Da Vinci Code.

There were no new entries on either chart.
