Järvi to Lead Cincinnati Symphony on West Coast Tour in April 2007
By Vivien Schweitzer Paavo Järvi will lead the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra on a five-concert California tour in April 2007. The tour repertoire will include staples, new music, and Nordic and Estonian works. Three of the five tour programs include Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, which the orchestra recorded for Telarc in 2001. A performance at the Orange County Performing Arts Center's new concert hall will feature Leonidas Kavakos perfoming the Brahms Violin Concerto. Other works to be performed include Erkki-Sven Tüür's Zeitraum, and Nielsen's Symphony No. 4 "The Inextinguishable." Järvi said, "I am so proud of this orchestra and the work we are doing together. It is an honor to travel with the CSO and demonstrate our artistry in California — a vital arts market.”
This will be the third domestic tour for Järvi and the CSO since Järvi became music director in 2001.
