Pop-opera tenor Andrea Bocelli will appear on Fox television's American Idol tonight and tomorrow night, according to the show's web site.
Tonight, Bocelli will coach six aspiring singers on their performances of "classic love songs," the site says. Tomorrow, during the "results show," in which one of the contestants is eliminated, Bocelli will give a performance.
Bocelli has scored a series of hits over the last decade with albums of pop songs and arias, and, since 2000, has appeared in full-length recordings of La bohème, Il trovatore, and other operas. His latest album, Amore, has been at number one on the Billboard classical-crossover chart since its release at the end of January.
