Ned Rorem's opera Our Town, based on the Thornton Wilder play, debuted at Indiana University on February 24.

The libretto is by poet J. D. McClatchy. Vincent J. Liotta is the director, C. David Higgins the set designer, and David Effron the conductor.

Our Town was commissioned by IU with Lake George Opera, which will present its professional premiere in July, and Opera Boston, Aspen Music Festival and School, North Carolina School of the Arts, and Festival Opera of Walnut Creek, California.

The opening-night cast included tenor Eric McCluskey as the Stage Manager, Anna Steenerson as Emily, and Marc Chapman as George.

Performance continue on March 3 and 4.
