The long-running New York concert series Highlights in Jazz will present pianist Bill Charlap, saxophonist Jimmy Heath, trombonist Steve Turre, and other top musicians in the first half of 2006.

The season begins on February 9, 2006, with a concert pairing Charlap's long-running trio, which includes drummer Kenny Washington and bassist Peter Washington, with an all-star group featuring Heath, trombonist Slide Hampton, and saxophonist and flutist Frank Wess.

A concert on March 9 includes pianist and vocalist Barbara Carroll, performing with bassist Jay Leonhart and drummer Joe Ascione, and pianist Cyrus Chestnut's trio.

On April 6, Turre, pianist Mulgrew Miller, drummer Jimmy Cobb, saxophonist David "Fathead" Newman, percussionist Ray Baretto, trumpeter Lou Soloff, and saxophonist Ernie Watts gather for a concert billed as "the ultimate jam session.

Finally, a concert on May 11 pairs two vocalists: Blossom Dearie and Kevin Mahogany.

Highlights in Jazz takes place at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. Tickets for Highlights in Jazz are $30 and are available at the center's box office at 199 Chambers Street or by calling 212-220-1460.

One concert remains in Highlights in Jazz's fall/winter season: an "Evening of Jazz Guitar" on January 5, with Bucky Pizzarelli, Russell Malone, Howard Alden, Gene Bertoncini, and Frank Vignola. Wycliffe Gordon and bassist and singer Jay Leonhart make guest appearances.
