The Lyric Opera of Chicago's new production of Michael Tippett's The Midsummer Marriage opened on November 19.

The production was directed by Peter Hall (who had to leave rehearsals earlier this month because of health problems); Lyric music director Andrew Davis is the conductor.

The cast includes Joseph Kaiser and Janice Watson as the Mark and Jenifer, the couple at the center of the story; Stacey Tappan as Bella; Kurt Streit as Jack, Peter Rose as King Fisher, Catherine Wyn-Rogers as Sosostris, and Kevin Langan as He-Ancient.

The Midsummer Marriage continues tonight and runs through December 16.
