The New York Philharmonic's weekly radio series begins the week of October 3, the Philharmonic announced.

The New York Philharmonic This Week is syndicated nationally by Chicago's WFMT. In New York, the program is carried on 96.3 FM WQXR on Tuesdays at 9 p.m; check local listings for other outlets.

The broadcasts are also available on the Philharmonic's web site, nyphil.org, for two weeks after their original broadcast date.

The 39 weeks of broadcasts begin with the airing of the Philharmonic's opening-night program from September 21. Music director Lorin Maazel conducts; pianist Evgeny Kissin plays Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 ("Emperor"). The program also includes Richard Strauss's Don Juan and Der Rosenkavalier Suite.
