Two volumes of Bach's keyboard concertos recorded by pianist Angela Hewitt and the Australian Chamber Orchestra debuted on the Billboard classical chart this week at number 20 and number 24.
The two albums are part of Hewitt's ten-year survey of the major Bach keyboard works; they include seven concertos for solo keyboard and orchestra, the Triple Concerto, and the Fifth Brandenburg Concerto.
Also new to the chart was a disc of Telemann flute concertos from Musica Antiqua Köln, which debuted at number 23.
Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble's Silk Road Journeys: Beyond the Horizon remained at number one for the second week in a row, while the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Choose Something Like a Star moved up to number two after falling to number five last week.
Two other albums from the choir continued to sell well: America's Choir: Favorite Songs, Hymns & Anthems, which stayed at number ten, and Peace Like a River, which rose from number 12 to number 11.
Other movers included the Harp Consort's Les Travailleurs de la mer, which jumped from number 22 to number 12 in its second week on the chart.
On the classical crossover chart, the self-titled debut from Il Divo stayed at number one for the 13th week. Phantasia, an album of suites from the Andrew Lloyd Weber musicals The Phantom of the Opera and Woman in White, made its first appearance at number ten. The CD features violinist Sarah Chang and cellist Julian Lloyd Weber, the composer's brother.
