Wedding Ring: The Canadian Opera Company Wants the Dress in Your Closet

By Ben Mattison
02 Jun 2005

The Canadian Opera Company is seeking 50 used wedding dresses for its 2006 production of Wagner's Götterdämmerung, the company announced.

The COC has invited those without further need for their wedding dresses to donate them to the company. The dresses must be white; they may be of any size or style. The dresses must be delivered to the company by September and will not be returned.

According to the company, the dresses will make their appearance in Act II of Götterdämmerung, when Brünnhilde discovers that Siegfried is engaged to Gutrune.

The COC's Götterdämmerung, directed by Tim Albery, premieres on January 30, 2006. It is the final part of the company's first-ever Ring cycle; the complete cycle will be performed in September 2006.

To donate a dress, contact costume supervisor Carol Holland at 416-363-6671.
