Conductor Christoph von Dohnányi has canceled three appearances next weekend with the New York Philharmonic because he is ill, the orchestra announced. Semyon Bychkov, the chief conductor of the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, will replace him.

Ligeti's Atmosphères, Sibelius's The Swan of Tuonela, and Janácek's Sinfonietta have been replaced on the program with Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7 ("Lenningrad"). Mitsuko Uchida will perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 as previously scheduled.

The program will be heard at on April 7, April 8, and April 9.

Bychkov made his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 1984 and last led the orchestra in 1996. He has served as the music director of the Orchestre de Paris, principal guest conductor of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, principal guest conductor of Florence's Maggio Musicale festival, and chief conductor of the Dresden Semperoper.
