Welsh composer Alun Hoddinott has written a fanfare for the wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, the Associated Press reports.
The Celebration Fanfare, a one-minute-long work for string orchestra, two trumpets, and an organ, will have its first and last performance at the April 8 wedding. It will be played as the couple leaves St. George’s Chapel, where the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, will bless the wedding.
“It is a specific piece written for the specific circumstances of a specific occasion,” Hoddinott said, “and it will be played that once and not again. I am delighted and honored to have written this short piece.”
The composer has written music for the prince twice before, for his 16th birthday and at his investiture as Prince of Wales. Hoddinott is a former University College in Cardiff music professor.
The ceremony will also include work by Handel, Bach, Elgar, and Grieg.
