Nico (Chad Shelton) seduces a blindfolded Lysia (Emily Pulley).

The Houston Grand Opera gave the world premiere of Lysistrata, or the Nude Goddess on March 4.

In Mark Adamo's opera, based on Aristophanes' play, the women of ancient Sparta and Athens stop having sex with their husbands in order to stop a war.

Michael Kahn is the director. The sets are by Derek McLane, costumes by Murell Horton, and lighting by Howell Binkley.

Houston Grand Opera's production runs through March 19.
