The soundtrack to the French film Les Choristes (The Chorus) had one of the biggest sales gains of the week, moving from number 11 to number four in its second week on the Billboard classical chart.

The film, directed by Christophe Barratier, is the story of a teacher who uses music to get through to his troubled students. It was nominated for an Oscar earlier this week. Nearly all of the music, with the exception of "La nuit" from Rameau's Hippolyte et Aricie, is newly composed for the film by Bernard Coulais and Barratier, a classical guitarist.

Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone, the cellist's collection of film music, remained at number one for the 17th straight week.

Other CDs posting sales gains included Renée Fleming's collection of Handel, which moved from number four to number two; and Leon Fleisher's Two Hands, which jumped from seven to ten. Pianist Till Fellner's recording of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier entered the chart for the first time at number 13.

The top four slots in the classical crossover charts were unchanged from last week, with Josh Groban's Closer followed by albums from Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, and Hayley Westenra.
