Cunningham, Jones, Corella and More Set for Fall for Dance Fest

New York City Center has announced the lineup for its seventh annual Fall for Dance festival, scheduled to run Sept. 28-Oct. 9. Highlights include Bill T. Jones, Merce Cunningham Dance Company, ABT and Corella Ballet Castilla y León.

The festival will open with Merce Cunningham Dance Company, making its first New York stop on its two-year Legacy Tour. The company will present the New York premiere of Cunningham's XOVER (2007), with music by John Cage and scenery by Robert Rauschenberg.

Two-time Tony Award winner Bill T. Jones and his Bill T. Jones / Arnie Zane Dance Company will present Jones' Duet (1995), an exploration of two people moving in perfect unison. The Miami City Ballet will perform Tony Award-winning choreographer Twyla Tharp's The Golden Section (1983), featuring music by David Byrne.

Additional companies presenting work will include American Ballet Theatre, Companhia Urbana de Dança (Brazil), Company Rafaela Carrasco (Spain), Corella Ballet Castilla y León (Spain), Dresden Semperoper Ballett (Germany), Emanuel Gat Dance (France), Gallim Dance (New York), Jason Samuels Smith & Friends, KEIGWIN + COMPANY with Juilliard Dance, Madhavi Mudgal, New York City Ballet, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Ronald K. Brown / Evidence, A Dance Company, Russell Maliphant Company (England), San Francisco Ballet, Shu-Yi & (Dancers) Company (Taiwan), and Tero Saarinen Company (Finland).

The festival will also include DanceTalk, a series of pre-performance discussions and demonstrations with participants including Ronald K. Brown, Rafaela Carrasco, Sonia Destri, Shu-Yi Chou, Nancy Dalva, Tero Saarinen, Janet Wong and others.
