American Ballet Theatre's Spring Season continues this week with Sir Frederick Ashton's fantastical love story Sylvia. The work, with a score by Léo Delibes, runs at the Metropolitan Opera House through July 4.

Production notes describe the piece: "A ravishing fast-paced fantasy set amid verdant forests and majestic temples, Sir Frederick Ashton’s mythological love story unites the huntress Sylvia and a lovelorn shepherd with the divine intervention of the deity Eros. The splendid score by Léo Delibes was so admired by Tchaikovsky that he purportedly declared: had he known the music existed at the time, he would never have composed Swan Lake!"

This staging boasts sets and costumes by Robin Ironside, Christopher Ironside and Peter Farmer.

Sylvia will be performed July 2 at 7:30 PM, July 3 at 8 PM and July 4 at 2 PM.

American Ballet Theatre closes out the season with Sir Kenneth MacMillan's beloved Romeo and Juliet, running July 6-11.
