Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo - the tutu-fabulous all-male international dance sensation - returns to The Joyce Theater Dec. 16 - Jan. 4 with two joyful programs to choose from.
Just in time for the holidays, the talented, toe-shoed dancers of the Trockadero bring the pleasure of ballet and modern dance along with their wicked sense of humor and larger-than-life personalities to The Joyce. Boasting an astounding mastery of ballet technique, flamboyant personalities, and maybe a little more chest hair than your average Giselle, the world-renowned ballerinas of the Trocks illuminate the passion, tragedy, and joy of classical ballet, all squeezed into size 12 pointe shoes.
Parodying the classics from Petipa to Graham, as well as dancing original works, the all-male troupe combines faithful renditions of each style with exaggerated drama and tone. The Trocks' technique impresses aficionados and first-time dance audiences alike, while their witty choreographic jokes have had crowds in stitches for over three decades.
With legends like Olga Supphozova, Sveltlana Lofatkina, Lariska Dumbchenko returning with the company, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo promises to deliver a shimmering, comedic, and superlatively danced evening of family-friendly ballet to NYC audiences this winter.
