Medici.tv returns for the second consecutive season to the Verbier Festival, where it will offer 27 webcasts between July 18 and August 3.
Having kicked off its summer season last month from Aspen, the free online service by French music producer Medici Arts (under the direction of Hervé Boissičre) moves on to Switzerland where the upcoming coverage will feature a veritable “who’s who” of the world’s leading classical music artists.
The Verbier Festival provided the forum for medici.tv's pilot program last season, launching the service's foray into offering live webcasts from the world’s great concert halls and music festivals. The venture has since been lauded by the Toronto Star as "initiating the next seismic shift in the world of classical music," and been dubbed "A breakthrough" by the Los Angeles Times.
Now a year later, following the recent highly successful webcasts from the Aspen Music Festival and the Aix-en-Provence Festival (still available for archived streaming), medici prepares to offer another eclectic series from the scenic Swiss mountain village, beginning on July 18 with Paavo Järvi leading the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra in a program of Strauss, Mozart and Brahms.
Other names comprising the all-star lineup include Martha Argerich, Yuri Bashmet, Joshua Bell, Nicola Benedetti, Measha Brueggergosman, Gautier And Renaud Capuçon, Christoph Eschenbach, Martin Fröst, Matthias Goerne, Leila Josefowicz, Leonidas Kavakos, Nikolai Lugansky, Mischa Maisky, Gianandrea Noseda, Maxim Vengerov and Alisa Weilerstein.
