Live from Lincoln Center will broadcast the recent, Tony-nominated Broadway revival of William Finn and James Lapine’s award-winning Falsettos October 27 at 9 PM ET on PBS. (The date also marks the anniversary of the production's opening night at the Walter Kerr Theatre.)
Prior to the broadcast, Lincoln Center has posted a video featuring members of the cast discussing the upcoming TV airing. Watch Andrew Rannells, Betsy Wolfe, Anthony Rosenthal, and Christian Borle chat in the video above.
The James Lapine-helmed musical, which was filmed January 3-4, concerns a family who, struggling to remain “tight-knit,” eventually redefine what family means in difficult times.
The broadcast is part of PBS' Broadway's Best series, which also includes the recent airing of She Loves Me plus Present Laughter, Indecent, and Holiday Inn, as well as an encore airing of documentary In the Heights—Chasing Broadway Dreams.
Falsettos—nominated for five 2017 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical— played a limited run in movie theatres around the country beginning July 12.
The cast was headed by two-time Tony Award winner Christian Borle as Marvin, two-time Tony nominee Block as Trina, and two-time Tony nominee Rannells as Whizzer, with Tracie Thoms as Dr. Charlotte, Waitress star Betsy Wolfe as Cordelia, two-time Tony nominee Brandon Uranowitz as Mendel, and Anthony Rosenthal as Jason. The limited engagement ended January 8, 2017, at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
