Broadway News Watch: A Bronx Tale Creators Discuss Alan Menken’s ‘Roll ’Em’ Composer Menken, librettist Chazz Palminteri, and producer Tommy Mottola share their thoughts on the song in this exclusive video.

In the video above, A Bronx Tale composer Alan Menken, book writer Chazz Palminteri, and producer Tommy Mottola discuss the song “Roll ’Em” from their musical, currently running at the Longacre Theatre.

Menken says the “feel of the song was actually inspired by the sense of the shaking of the dice.” The video also features Nick Cordero and Hudson Loverro’s performance of the tune.

The Broadway company is currently led by Tony nominee Cordero as Sonny, Christiani Pitts as Jane, Richard H. Blake as Lorenzo, Adam Kaplan as Calogero, Lucia Giannetta as Rosina, Bradley Gibson as Tyrone, and Will Coombs and Jonah Mussolino, who share the part of Young Calogero.

A Bronx Tale has a book by Oscar nominee Palminteri, music by Oscar, Grammy, and Tony winner Menken, and lyrics by Grammy winner and Oscar and Tony nominee Glenn Slater. It is co-directed by Robert De Niro and Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Sergio Trujillo.
