Tony Award nominee Vanessa Williams performs a concert of pop hits and songs from her Broadway shows at an 8 PM November 4 concert at the Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

Williams, who earned her Tony nomination playing the Witch in the 2002 revival of Into the Woods, will sing numbers from that show, plus Sondheim on Sondheim and After Midnight. Among other planned songs are “The Sweetest Days,” “Save the Best for Last,” “Dreamin’,” and “Colors of the Wind.”

Williams told Playbill that she makes her home not far from Ridgefield and discovered the theatre several years back when she surprised one of her friends, Kathi Mead, with a birthday gift of tickets for an evening of clairvoyant Kim Russo at the Playhouse. “We were hoping that Kathi’s best friend, who had recently passed away, would come through that night. After the show, I got an added bonus by introducing myself to Kim’s husband, who was selling merchandise, who in turn told Kim that I was a fan. A few weeks later, she ended up coming to my home, which was built in 1906, to get rid of the ghosts, which we filmed as an episode for her series The Haunting Of.”

She lost her ghosts but gained a handy performing space. “As a Westchester resident,“ she said, ”The Playhouse is convenient and has a warm, intimate setting which lends itself perfectly to my musical set.”

Williams will be joined on stage November 4 by her After Midnight co-star Carmen Ruby Floyd, who will duet with her on the show’s “Creole Love Call,” which Williams said is “her signature tune that stunned audiences night after night.”

The 2014 After Midnight was Williams’ most recent Broadway appearance, but she said she hopes it won’t be the last. “I can’t wait to return to Broadway! There are a few ideas percolating and we’ll see which one makes it on stage first. But I will be singing at my dear friend Barbara Cook’s memorial in December. I adored this legendary lady and cherished the moments we had together both on and off stage during Sondheim on Sondheim [2010].”

Williams is scheduled to perform at the November Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song ceremony honoring Tony Bennett, before heading into the studio in December to record a new album.

The Ridgefield Playhouse is located at 80 East Ridge Road in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Tickets, at $75 to $175, can be ordered here. The event serves as a benefit for the Hord Foundation, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
