A new U.K. and Ireland tour of Maury Yeston and Peter Stone’s Tony Award-winning musical Titanic will launch in April 2018 with two historic stops on its itinerary.

Based on the 2013 chamber production that premiered at London’s Southwark Playhouse, the tour will open April 12 at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton, the same city where the RMS Titanic set sail on her maiden voyage April 10, 1912.

Titanic will then transfer to Belfast, Ireland, where the ship was built, for an engagement at the Grand Opera House prior to playing 12 additional stops on its tour.

Produced by Danielle Tarento, Steven M Levy, Sean Sweeney, and Vaughan Williams, in association with the Mayflower Theatre, the tour marks the 106th anniversary of Titanic’s maiden voyage.

“The idea that a troupe of actors will tour this show in the U.K., birthplace of the ship, where the workers of Belfast, the cabin boys and maids and stewards from Liverpool, the officers and crew, the stokers and stevedores from the Midlands all created a miraculous floating city, means more to me than I can say. I am touched that, musically, Titanic will finally be coming home, sung by the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of its builders – touched, and forever grateful,” Yeston said in a statement.

The complete tour itinerary follows: Southampton (Mayflower Theatre, April 12–21), Belfast (Grand Opera House, April 23–28), Cardiff (Wales Millennium Centre, April 5–30), Salford (The Lowry, May 7–12), Sheffield (Sheffield Theatres, May 21–26), Glasglow (King’s Theatre Glasgow, May 28–June 2), Birmingham (Birmingham Hippodrome, June 4–9), Edinburgh (Edinburgh Playhouse, June 11–16), Plymouth (Theatre Royal, June 18–23), Northampton (Derngate, June 25–30), Nottingham (Theatre Royal, July 2–7), Blackpool (Winter Gardens, July 9–14), and Bromley (Churchill Theatre, July 16–21).

The musical that tells the story of the passengers of the doomed luxury liner has a Tony-winning score by Yeston (Grand Hotel, Nine) and a Tony-winning book by the late Stone (The Will Rogers Follies, 1776). It opened on Broadway April 23, 1997, winning five Tony Awards including Best Musical.
