Oscar winner Renée Zellweger (who earned an Oscar nomination for her work in the film version of Chicago) will play musical icon Judy Garland in an upcoming film about the actor's final London concerts, according to Deadline.

From Pathe and Calamity Films, the motion picture will be directed by Tony nominee Rupert Goold (King Charles III) based on a screenplay by Tom Edge (The Crown). Filming is expected to begin in February 2018.

Judy, which will be produced by David Livingstone for Calamity, is set in winter 1968 as an exhausted Garland arrives in London to perform sold-out concerts at The Talk of the Town. “As Garland prepares for the show, battles with management, charms musicians and reminisces with friends and adoring fans, her wit and warmth shine through,” according to the industry site. “Even her dreams of romance seem undimmed as she embarks on a courtship with Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband.”

Some of Garland's most-loved songs will be featured in the film. A release date has yet to be announced.

Garland's final London outing was also the subject of Peter Quilter's 2012 Broadway play, End of the Rainbow, starring Tracie Bennett.
