Performances will begin November 11 for the New York premiere of Rajiv Joseph’s Describe the Night, a new play which spans 90 years of Russian history and conspiracy, charting the crossed paths of seven men and women.
Due to a technical issue, the first preview, originally scheduled for November 10, was cancelled.
Describe the Night is playing Atlantic Theater Company’s Linda Gross Theater, with an opening night set for December 5.
Giovanna Sardelli directs a cast made up of six-time Tony nominee Danny Burstein, Rebecca Naomi Jones (Significant Other), Tina Benko (The Public's Julius Caesar), Nadia Bowers (The Farnsworth Invention), Max Gordon Moore (Indecent), and Stephen Stocking (Archduke at The Mark Taper Forum).
The play is scheduled to run Off-Broadway through December 24.
The production features sets by Tim Mackabee, costumes by Amy Clark, lighting design by Lap Chi Chu, and sound design and original music by Daniel Gluger. Casting is by Telsey + Company.
Joseph’s plays include Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, which was produced on Broadway in 2011, as well Guards at the Taj, which also played at the Atlantic, Animals Out of Paper, and The North Pool.
Describe the Night was commissioned by Houston's Alley Theatre, where it had its world premiere.
