Red Roses, Green Gold, a new musical featuring music by members of The Grateful Dead rock group, has extended its run Off-Broadway at New York’s Minetta Lane Theatre.

The production, which officially opened October 29 following previews that began October 11, will now play through January 7, 2018, at the Greenwich Village venue.

The songs are mainly composed by Robert Hunter and the late Jerry Garcia, but also feature contributions from Grateful Dead alums Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, and Mickey Hart, as well as Bill Kreutzmann. Dead & Company's (a band comprised primarily of former Grateful Dead members) Jeff Chimenti serves as music supervisor and arranger.

The musical, featuring a book by Michael Norman Mann and direction and choreography by Rachel Klein, takes place in 1920s Maryland and tells the story of Jackson Jones and his family of swindlers as they gamble their way to love and riches.

The cast of eight actor-musicians comprises Brian Russell Carey (A Christmas Carol), Maggie Hollinbeck (Once first national tour), David Park (Matthew McConaughey vs. The Devil), Michael McCoy Reilly (Hoots & Hellmouth), Natalie Storrs (Sister Act first national tour), Debbie Christine Tjong (Howl at the Moon), Michael Viruet (Pitch Perfect), and Scott Wakefield (Ring of Fire).

The production also features music direction by Andy Peterson (More Than All The World), scenic design by Robert Andrew Kovach (The Anthem), costume design by Ásta Bennie Hostetter (The Wolves), lighting design by Jamie Roderick (That Bachelorette Show), sound design by Kim Carbone (The Lady Drug Dealer and the Heist) and Ben Scheff (No Room for Wishing), and projection design by Brad Peterson (Cats).
