Netflix has severed ties with Kevin Spacey in the wake of increasing sexual assault and harassment allegations against the actor. The decision affects both House of Cards and the previously reported Gore Vidal biopic.

Filming for the sixth and final season of House of Cards was put on indefinite hold October 31—two days after BuzzFeed published an in-depth interview with Anthony Rapp, who alleged that Spacey had made sexual advances toward him when the Rent star was 14. In the week following, others have come forward with similar allegations.

On November 3, the streaming service released a statement stating Netflix “will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey,” according to Deadline. The statement continues: “We will continue to work with [Media Rights Capital] during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show].”

MRC, the independent production company on House of Cards, says the actor has been suspended—not fired—from the series as star and producer. The studio’s statement reads, “MRC, in partnership with Netflix, will continue to evaluate a creative path forward for the program during the hiatus.”

Though an official termination of Spacey from House of Cards has yet to be confirmed as Netflix and MRC determine the show’s future, Netflix has confirmed that it will not move forward with the Gore Vidal biopic starring Spacey. The film, exploring the life of the Best Man playwright, was in post-production.
