Broadway and nightclub legend Julie Halston returns to Birdland in New York City November 20 for a concert titled Life, Death & Filler.

For the 7 PM show she is promising to deliver “laughter, glamour and a few tears.”

Birdland has been the venue for several sold-out Halston solo shows. CBS developed a TV pilot based on her 1992 one-woman show, Julie Halston’s Lifetime of Comedy, which she wrote and starred in for more than six months Off-Broadway.

She first came to prominence with appearances in Charles Busch’s Off-Broadway lampoons including Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, The Lady in Question, Red Scare on Sunset (Drama Desk Award nomination), Shanghai Moon, and Olive and the Bitter Herbs.

More recently she has made several Broadway appearances including Hairspray, Anything Goes, and the 2014 revival of On the Town, in which she subbed briefly for Jackie Hoffman. She was nominated for a Drama Desk Award and an Outer Critics Circle for her performance in You Can’t Take it With You.

Halston has numerous and eclectic TV and Broadway credits. These include playing Bitsy Von Muffling on Sex and The City, Tina Carmello on The Class, and Antigone Carruthers on The Electric Company.

Birdland is located at 314 West 44th Street in Manhattan just west of the Times Square theatre district. Tickets, which cost $30–$50 (plus a $10 drink/food minimum), can be ordered online or by phone: (212) 581-3080.
