Broadway’s 21-time Tony Award-winning director and producer Harold Prince will be the primary honoree at Manhattan Theatre Club’s October 23 Fall Benefit concert and gala in New York City.

Richard Maltby will direct the evening, which will include performances by actors from throughout Prince’s six-decade career, including Jason Alexander, Joel Grey, Norm Lewis, Laura Linney, Marin Mazzie, producer Jeffrey Seller, and members of the cast of MTC’s current Broadway show, Prince of Broadway, which celebrates Prince’s works.

The event will take place at 583 Park Avenue (63rd Street and Park Avenue) in Manhattan.

Prince has been a longtime friend to Manhattan Theatre Club. In addition to co-directing Prince of Broadway, he staged MTC’s LoveMusik in 2007, and served on MTC's board of directors 2006–2013.

His other Broadway directing credits include the original productions of The Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd, Evita, She Loves Me, Cabaret, Zorba, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Pacific Overtures, On the Twentieth Century, Merrily We Roll Along, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and Parade.

Prince produced the original productions of The Pajama Game; Damn Yankees; New Girl in Town; West Side Story; Fiorello!; Tenderloin; Flora, the Red Menace; A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum; and Fiddler on the Roof.

He is a trustee for the New York Public Library and previously served on the National Council on the Arts for the NEA. In addition to his 21 Tony Awards, Prince earned a Kennedy Center Honor and a National Medal of the Arts from President Bill Clinton for a career in which “he changed the nature of the American musical."

The creative team for the gala includes Steve Brady (lighting design), Dan Gearhard (sound design), and James Sampliner (musical director). The stage management team is James Fitzsimmons and Jereme Kyle Lewis.
