Playwright Adam Rapp and composer Jason Robert Brown will take their place among presenters and performers November 12 at the New York Musical Festival gala that will honor Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Marsha Norman.

NYMF, which presents showcase productions of new musicals in its annual summer festival, has chosen the Tony- and Grammy Award-winning author of ‘night Mother and librettist of The Secret Garden, The Color Purple, and Brown’s musical The Bridges of Madison County to receive its annual salute, along with NYMF Board of Directors Chair Charles Fink.

The event will take place at the Edison Ballroom near Times Square, and will be co-hosted by actors Grace McLean (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) and Jason “Sweet Tooth” Williams (Broadway Bounty Hunter). Comedian, writer, and actor Judy Gold (Roseanne, Broad City, 30 Rock) will serve as auctioneer.

Presenters and performers for the evening include Brown (Parade, The Last Five Years) and Rapp (Red Light Winter), along with Katori Hall (The Mountaintop), Martyna Majok (Ironbound), Shoba Narayan (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), Randy Blair (Amélie), Pearl Rhein (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), Brynn Williams (Lazarus), Dan Sharkey (Amazing Grace), Jillian Louis (It Shoulda Been You), Daniel Robert Sullivan (Motown), Jacob Yates (Georama), Carrie Berk (Peace, Love and Cupcakes), Diego Lucano (School of Rock), Victoria Csatay (Peace, Love & Cupcakes), Merin McCallum (Peace, Love & Cupcakes), Blake Sheridan (Peace, Love & Cupcakes), Ksenia Nakonechny (Peace, Love and Cupcakes), Alexa Reeves (Peace, Love and Cupcakes), Claire Neumann (Baghdaddy), Graydon Peter Yosowitz (The Light Years), Marshall Pailet (Baghdaddy, Claudio Quest), AD Penedo (Baghdaddy), Kerstin Anderson (The Sound of Music), and others.

New York Musical Festival nurtures “the creation, production, and public presentation of stylistically, thematically, and culturally diverse new musicals to ensure the future vitality of musical theater.” The festival, which provided a developmental platform for musicals including Next to Normal, Altar Boyz, and [title of show], is entering its 15th year.
