As a special treat, the show will star Emmy-winning original cast member Rob Paulsen, who supplied the voices for the cartoon characters Yakko Warner, Dr. Scratch ‘n’ Sniff, and Pinky from Pinky and the Brain.

He will be accompanied by three-time Emmy-winning composer Randy Rogel, who wrote many of the comedy songs used on the show, which ran from 1993 to 1998. These two Animaniacs veterans will show clips from the cartoons alongside the live performances, and will share behind-the-scenes secrets about the making of the series, which featured Bernadette Peters as the voice of Rita the Cat.

Produced by filmmaker Steven Spielberg, the Cartoon Network series featured frequent silly songs and song parodies, including “It’s a Great Big World,” “Be Careful What You Eat,” “Variety Speak,” “Cheese Roll Call,” “I’m Cute,” and the Gilbert & Sullivan sendup, “I Am the Very Model of a Cartoon Individual.”

Animaniacs Live! , which played at Joe’s Pub for a single performance October 8, will return for eight shows, two a night, 7 and 9:30 PM, May 24–27, 2018. Tickets cost $45, are already on sale, and can be ordered at Publictheater.org.
