Tara Finney Productions’ 20th anniversary staging of Enda Walsh’s play Disco Pigs will arrive Off-Broadway this winter following an acclaimed run at London’s Trafalgar Studios earlier this year. Reprising their roles will be Harry Potter’s Evanna Lynch and Colin Campbell (Dublin by Lamplight).
The Irish Repertory Theatre engagement will begin previews January 5, 2018, on Irish Rep’s mainstage. The limited engagement is scheduled through February 18, 2018, with an opening night set for January 8.
In Disco Pigs, Pig and Runt—born on the same day in the same hospital and inseparable ever since—celebrate their joint birthday. As night falls, the disco and drink take hold, and things spiral violently out of control.
The play, considered to be the playwright’s breakthrough piece, made a splash when it premiered at the 1997 Edinburgh Fringe. The drama was lauded by critics and picked up a number of awards.
Walsh is a Tony winner for the musical Once; his other works include Arlington, Ballyturk, and Lazarus, the musical he co-wrote with David Bowie.
The creative team for Disco Pigs includes set and costume designer Richard Kent (Man to Man), lighting designer Elliot Griggs (Pomona), sound designer Giles Thomas (Outside Mullingar), and movement director Naomi Said (Beginning).
