Grosses Grosses Analysis: Josh Groban Bows Out of The Great Comet on a High Note The immersive musical celebrates its highest-grossing week as it bid farewell to its Grammy- and Tony-nominated star.

Josh Groban took his final bow in Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812 July 2, and his last week at the Imperial Theatre marked the show’s highest-grossing week. to date The musical took in $1,409,877 in the week ending July 2—over 106 percent of its potential. The highest it had grossed previously was in the final week of 2016 ($1,371,950).

The musical’s Tony-nominated composer Dave Malloy assumes the role of Pierre from Groban from July 3–9; Hamilton alum Okieriete Onaodowan will step in in July 11.

The Great Comet was one of three of this year’s Best Musical Tony nominees to appear in the top ten shows and celebrate their highest-grossing weeks. Trailing just behind The Great Comet was the Tony-winning Dear Evan Hansen at $1,342,157 and Come From Away at $1,249,634.

The limited engagements of The Little Foxes and Present Laughter concluded July 2 on high notes, earning their highest gross as audiences took advantage of their final chances to catch the starry revivals.
