Grosses Grosses Analysis: Even Without Big Tony Wins, New Musicals Get a Boost From Broadway’s Biggest Night Take an in-depth look at how Broadway shows did in the week following the 71st Annual Tony Awards.

Although they didn’t take the top honor of Best Musical at the 71st Tony Awards June 11, a presence at the Radio City Music Hall ceremony delivered strong numbers in the following week.

Come From Away, which won Christopher Ashley his first Tony for Best Direction of a Musical, celebrated its highest gross yet for the week ending June 18, taking in $1,238,179. Bandstand also had its best week to date, making $642,594 after Andy Blankenbuehler brought the show a Best Choreography win. The Great Comet, which began performances in October 2016, saw its best week since the new year with $1,319,766.

Meanwhile, they Tony-winning Best Play Oslo celebrated a boost of over $100,000, grossing $808,195 (its highest yet). One of its three fellow nominees, Indecent also received a six-figure jump, coming in at $377,789 in its penultimate week (the Paula Vogel play will take its final bow June 25).

Donna Murphy made her grand entrance on the Harmonia Gardens staircase in Hello, Dolly! for the first time June 13. The added performance brought the Tony-winning revival to eight shows this past week. The Bette Midler-led production broke its own Shubert Organization record, earning $2,297,057.
