New York City-based theatrical incubator Fresh Ground Pepper is raising funds for its first-ever festival of new works, to launch in 2018. The festival will host a reading series of new works by FGP’s Playground Playgroup, debut a “Challenges” program curated by the inaugural Producers Lab, and premiere the first public work from the company’s In House Artists Group.

The first FGP festival will showcase the company’s signature offbeat and innovative style. In keeping with FGP’s mission to create theatre that is at the intersection of art and advocacy, the festival will also feature a common space for community outreach and offer rehearsal space shares, community talkbacks, and audience engagement opportunities.

FGP was co-founded in 2009 by playwright Jaclyn Backhaus, whose play Men on Boats played an acclaimed, extended Off-Broadway run last year; producer Karina Martins; director and producer Andrew Neisler; director Andrew Scoville; and producer and director Jenny Beth Snyder.
