Tony nominee and four-time Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke is set to direct and star in a benefit reading of Sam Shepard’s play The Late Henry Moss for the New Group. The cast will be completed by Keith Carradine, Vincent D'Onofrio, Alessandro Nivola, and Yul Vazquez.
Hawke previously starred in the play’s Off-Broadway production at the Signature Theatre in 2001. The actor worked extensively with Shepard, who passed away over the summer, on both the stage and screen.
The New Group reading of The Late Henry Moss will take place November 6 at 7 PM at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
Set in New Mexico, the story sees two brothers come together in the wake of their father’s mysterious death. The drama by the Pulitzer Prize winner had its world premiere at San Francisco's Magic Theatre in late 2000 starring Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, and Woody Harrelson, among others.
