More than 50 playwrights will gather November 13 in New York City to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Off-Broadway Play Group, the Emerging Playwrights Collective of the adventurous Ars Nova troupe, with gala fundraiser NOVA BALL XX17.

Among Ars Nova’s playwright and librettist alumni scheduled to take part: Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton), Annie Baker (The Flick), Steven Levenson (Dear Evan Hansen), Stephen Karam (The Humans), Kyle Jarrow (The SpongeBob Musical), Amy Herzog (4000 Miles), Bess Wohl (Small Mouth Sounds), and others, including Sofia Alvarez, Sarah Burgess, Sarah DeLappe, Sarah Gancher, Nick Jones, Jon Kern, Michael Mitnick, Antoinette Nwandu, Max Posner, and Sharyn Rothstein.

NOVA BALL XX17 will be held at 6:30 PM at Capitale, 130 Bowery, in Manhattan. Cocktails and dinner will be followed by “surprise performances” from Ars Nova’s family of artists, and by an after-party with DJ Weird Stomp (a.k.a. Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Baker).

The company is known for taking chances on promising little-known artists early in their careers, and ushering them to success. Among other shows that originated there was the commissioned work Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, which eventually opened on Broadway.
